How to use brand reputation wisely

  • Compare models, not logos. A brand’s entry model and flagship can be worlds apart.
  • Check support and spare parts. Established brands tend to offer replacement pads, styli, remotes and repairs.
  • Watch for licensed names. Some historic brand names are licensed to other manufacturers; the product may have little to do with the original company.
  • Read several reviews, including measurements where available, and listen yourself.
